A Coffee Date Worth Taking

A Coffee Date Worth Taking
Cloudberry Matcha & Café Au Lait @Layered

It was a beautiful day in Northern Virginia, the kind of day that makes you want to slow down and try something new. I decided to visit a coffee shop I had been hearing a lot about in downtown Fairfax called Layered. Fairfax itself is such a cute town, and Layered fits right in with its cozy and welcoming vibe.

Layered is known for its pastries, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. I ordered a delicious pastry along with a drink that surprised me in the best way. I love matcha, so I decided to try something different, a blueberry base with matcha layered on top. It was refreshing, unique, and honestly so good that I am already thinking about going back for another one.

What made this visit even more special was the company. I met up with someone I had met at a conference about a year ago. I have been trying to be more intentional about making new friendships, and reaching out can feel a little intimidating sometimes. But I am so glad I did. We spent time catching up, sharing stories, and having great conversations.

There is something special about connecting with someone over food, even if it is just coffee and a pastry. You learn a lot about people in those moments. Their tastes, their stories, and their little preferences. It is a simple way to build a connection.

So here is a little reminder. If you have been thinking about reaching out to someone, do it. The worst they can say is no, and often you will end up sharing a really meaningful moment.

I am excited to keep building this friendship. We are even talking about going hiking soon. And if you ever find yourself in Northern Virginia, I definitely recommend stopping by Layered. The space is open and welcoming, the pastries are amazing, and the vibe is just right.

Sometimes the best days start with a simple coffee.
