When the Sun Comes Out, So Do We
Finally, the weather is starting to look better, and I could not be more excited. As I’m writing this, there is a huge thunderstorm outside and even a tornado warning in the area. It’s kind of fascinating to watch, but it also makes me wonder, does this mean sunnier days ahead or just cooler weather?
Earlier this week, I went on my first hike of 2026. It was short, only about 50 minutes, but it was calm and beautiful. Along the trail, I saw young couples, families, and people fishing by the lake. Once the sun comes out, the people come out too.
In many ways, we are like other warm-blooded creatures; we tend to hibernate during the winter and reappear when the sun returns. The hike itself was simple but refreshing. My heart rate picked up with the hills, and I loved seeing the trees, mossy rocks, and little details along the path. It felt good to discover a new place and reconnect with nature.
It was a peaceful way to start the week. So here is a little reminder, amigos: get some sunlight when you can. Take a short walk during your lunch break, before or after work, or whenever you have a moment. Even ten minutes outside can make a difference.
I notice a real shift in my energy and confidence when I spend time outdoors. I’m proud of myself for getting outside that day. And I hope you feel proud of yourself, too, for whatever small step you took this week.
